Correct appropriation

You shall not steal (Exodus 20: 15). This is an easy one, right?  God has entrusted possessions to individuals and other people are not permitted to take that property away. You understand that; so it’s all sorted then. But is it? Is it only property that can be stolen? Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly, “(John 10: 10). If you take advantage of people’s fears, vulnerabilities, powerlessness, or desperation this is a form of theft because their consent is not truly voluntary. One can steal from God. It is an act of theft to be unfaithful to God in relation to financial resources, (Malachi 3:8-10). You can also steal from God by failing to recognise that everything you have is on loan
