You shall not steal (Exodus 20: 15). This is an easy one, right? God has entrusted possessions to individuals and other people are not permitted to take that property away. You understand that; so it’s all sorted then. But is it? Is it only property that can be stolen? Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly, “(John 10: 10). If you take advantage of people’s fears, vulnerabilities, powerlessness, or desperation this is a form of theft because their consent is not truly voluntary. One can steal from God.
