The Seven Noahide Laws, also known as the Noahic Laws, are a set of moral imperatives that, according to the Talmud, were given by God as a binding set of laws for all of humanity. These laws are derived from the story of Noah in the book of Genesis and are considered the foundation of ethical conduct for all people. The seven laws are:
- Prohibition of idolatry
- Prohibition of blasphemy
- Prohibition of murder
- Prohibition of theft
- Prohibition of illicit relations
- Prohibition of eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive
- Requirement to establish courts of justice
These laws form the basis of universal morality in the Jewish tradition and are considered applicable to all people, not just to the Jewish community.
