Take time to be holy

God continued His dialogue with Moses, “Speak to the entire congregation of Israel and say to them: ‘be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy. Obey My laws,” (Leviticus 19: 1-2; 19 GW). This was a tough one; holiness is not an easy state to achieve or maintain, but it is a prerequisite for every believer, if they are going to go by that title. God did not give opt out clauses or exceptions to His rule; God’s people are holy – it’s that simple. What makes them holy? Keeping God’s commandments is what makes the difference. But hadn’t God issued a list of what believers should not do already? It all sounded so negative, so prohibitive, yet obvious. Clearly God’s people don’t make or worship idols; they don’t take His Name in vain. They keep the Sabbath holy and they don’t disrespect…
