Truth: it’s a family affair

Are you someone in the know? Do you love a good story? Or better yet, can people rely on you to know all the juicy details if ever there is anything going on?  “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour, (Exodus 20: 16). These words have particular resonance in an era of fake news, social media leaks and gaffes and an often almost imperceptible difference between fiction and reality.   Can truth ever be spoken when those being talked about are not there to speak for themselves? The divine origin of these words reminds us that people may not be able to detect when our representation of others is accurate or not, but God cannot be fooled.
