“You shall not commit adultery,” (Exodus 20:14). Perhaps the believer can claim innocence here: I make sure that I don’t place myself in compromising situations with attractive people; that way things can’t get out of hand. However, look at social media, magazine covers and advertisement hoardings. Listen to music and watch movies: sexual imagery is everywhere and it sells. And the more in your face and bold it is, the better the likelihood of achieving a sale. You would have to be blinkered to avoid it.  Jesus says, “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’  But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart,”(Matthew 5:27-28).  Adultery is committed in the heart, before it is carried out in the flesh.
